PUNE: Protesting the constant hike in the fuel prices and inflation, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Shirur, took out a rally on Monday, during which a bike was placed on a handcart and pushed manually. The protesters also gifted a plastic dropper to the administration as a symbolic protest and submitted a memorandum to the tehsil office.
The protesters, which had gathered in large numbers, raised slogans against the price hike and the current dispensation. Sujata Pawar of the NCP said the BJP had come to power after assuring the people that it will control inflation and bring fuel prices under control. She alleged that while the hike of the prices comes in rupees, the relief announced by the government comes only in paisas.
Saying that the government is fooling the people by its fake promises, the protesters were told by the NCP leadership present at the spot that the Congress-NCP alliance is planning massive protests against the government and its inflation causing policy. The responsibility of what happens during that protest will be of the government, said the NCP leaders, adding that under this government, everyone, from farmers to traders have seen only losses and challenges.
