NCP holds rally over denial of justice

Pune: A silent rally was carried out by the women’s wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the city on Thursday, to protest against the alleged denial of justice to the 15-year-old girl who was brutally raped, allegedly by three men, in Ahmednagar district on July 13, last year.

The women’s wing has said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had assured that a fast-track court will give justice to the girl within a year.

The rally was carried out from the office of NCP at Hirabaug, Tilak Road, and ended at 5 pm at the bust of Savitribai Phule in Saras Baug.

Black ribbons were tied on the foreheads of all the female and male participants of the rally.

Ashok Rathi, city Vice President of NCP, said, “There is still no judgement passed on the Kopardi gang-rape case. The accused were arrested but the fast-track court of Ahmednagar has still not passed judgement on it. Rallies are being conducted all over Maharashtra to seek justice in this case.”

Rupali Chakankar, President of the women’s wing of NCP, also addressed the rally.
