NCP conducts surveys to choose three candidates for Pimpri Assembly seats

Pimpri: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) conducted surveys to choose its candidates for the three Assembly seats in Pimpri Chinchwad.

The surveys were conducted to analyse who will be better party candidates among the various aspirants for the party’s nomination in the three State Assembly constituencies.
The findings of the surveys have not yet been disclosed.

The Nationalist Congress Party had also conducted similar surveys to choose its nominee for the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.

Bhosari’s former MLA Vilas Lande, who a strong contender for the party ticket in this seat, was denied party nomination based on the findings of the surveys. Dr Amol Kolhe, who was given the party’s ticket, later won the Shirur Lok Sabha seat.

It is almost certain that BJP’s sitting MLA Laxman Jagtap will be the party’s candidate for Chinchwad Assembly seat and independent MLA Mahesh Landge will be the party’s nominee in Bhosari constituency.

Gautam Chabukswar is Shiv Sena’s sitting MLA in Pimpri seat that is reserved Scheduled Caste (SC). Many BJP leaders are also aspiring for the party’s nomination for this seat.
The NCP has already started screening various aspirants for the party’s nomination in the three Assembly seats.

A meeting of the party’s leaders, municipal corporators and office-bearers in Pimpri Chinchwad was convened in Mumbai on Saturday evening to discuss the party’s State poll preparations in the city.
