Much more yet to be revealed: RTI activist

Pune: Expressing satisfaction at the way the investigation was handled in the DS Kulkarni (DSK) case, RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar said that the charges that were fixed on Thursday were just the tip of the iceberg and the rot in the case goes much deeper.

Kumbhar has been in the forefront of the fight to get justice for the duped investors in DSK’s businesses.

“I am immensely satisfied with the way the case has been handled by the investigation agencies. In a span of just three months, the agencies have come out with a 37,000-page charge sheet. This is nothing less than a feat in itself,” Kumbhar said, adding, “They have been thorough and swift in their job.”

Kumbhar runs a forum called RTI Katta. “It was at the RTI Katta that we received information about the mismanagement of funds by DSK. As we went ahead, many more people came forward with their queries and complaints and we got to know the extent of the problem,” Kumbhar said. “It is not just a case of a bad business decision but purposeful deceit,” he added.

He says the rot runs deeper. “The fraud done by DSK is a never-ending ladder. It runs that deep and is very complicated. There has been a large level of embezzlement of funds and mismanagement of investor money. There have been roundtripping of land through relatives, MoUs have been signed with charges of crores of rupees shown just to sign a MoU or consent forms,” Kumbhar said, adding, “What has come out until now is just the tip of the iceberg. There is much more to be revealed.”
