MSRTC driver suffers cardiac arrest, 2 hurt

PUNE: In a tragic incident, a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) driver suffered a cardiac arrest while driving the bus and two persons were left injured. The incident took place at Khindwadi when the bus crossed Satara city on its way to Karad from Mumbai.

The bus driver identified as Vikas Maruti Pawar (39), a resident of Talmavale village in Patan Taluka of Satara, was admitted to the civil hospital in Satara and his health is said to be stable now.

“The Mumbai-Karad (MH20 BL3667) bus was heading towards Karad when the driver suffered a cardiac arrest and lost control over the bus. The bus travelled about 100-150 feet and broke two dividers on the way. When the conductor and the passengers stepped out and checked on the driver, he was unconscious,” said Police Naik CS Bhosale attached to Satara City police station.

As per the information, the bus went into the opposite lane by crossing the divider and hit a two-wheeler carrying a couple then veering off the highway on the service road and beyond by breaking another divider. Fortunately, the bus had just one passenger and a conductor apart from the driver himself when the incident occurred. While the passenger and driver received minor injuries, the couple on the bike received serious injuries, the police said.
