More heavy rain predicted till Sept 1

Pune: More rainfall is likely to occur in the State and in Pune, according to a forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). So far, the seasonal rainfall recorded in the city has been over 515.1 mm. Various other regions in the State also witnessed rainfall last week. 

From Sunday morning till Monday evening, total rainfall reported by 352 stations in Central India was 494.8 cms. Average rainfall for these 352 stations is 322.5 cms till date for the season.

Heavy rainfall has been predicted by the IMD across the State till September 1. Konkan and Goa regions may receive excess rainfall between August 29 and September 1. Marathwada, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra may receive good rains on August 29.

The IMD also said the southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Madhya Maharashtra and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Across the country, rain is likely to occur at most places along eastern parts of central and east India. Many places in northern plains and northeast India are likely to experience rainfall. Scattered rain is likely over the rest of the country.
