MNS to stage protest against illegal sale of Chinese nylon manja

Pune: The MNS has demanded action against illegal sale of nylon manja. The party has threatened to start a protest outside Shaniwarwada if the sale doesn’t stop within 15 days.

The move follows the recent death of a Sakal employee, Suvarna Mujumdar, after her throat was cut by the manja while she was riding her two-wheeler on Shivaji Bridge.

Suhas Nimhan, Vice President, MNS Kothrud, said, “The use of Chinese nylon manja has been banned for the past two years. However, the manja is still being sold extensively. A woman recently died due to this negligence. There have been many instances where people have been seriously hurt. Around 1,000 birds die every kite season and the government isn’t taking any action.”
