Metro coaches set to reach Pune by Dec 28

“The Aluminium body coaches are world-class coaches equipped with CCTV cameras, emergency/panic button, charging points and other facilities. Also, physically challenged passengers can travel seamlessly as there is space earmarked for wheelchairs,” Brijesh Dixit said. 

PUNE: The rolling stocks to be used for the trial run of MahaMetro are expected to reach Pune by December 28. 

MahaMetro Managing Director Brijesh Dixit said that the coaches are on their way from Nagpur. “The Aluminium body coaches are world-class coaches equipped with CCTV cameras, emergency/panic button, charging points and other facilities. Also, physically challenged passengers can travel seamlessly as there is space earmarked for wheelchairs,” he said. 

“The coaches will be ergonomically and aerodynamically designed with the coach exterior to reflect the history and culture of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. These coaches will be fit for a maximum speed of 90 km per hour and can accommodate 925 passengers. Initially, the trains will consist of three coaches including one coach reserved for women passengers. It will be subsequently converted into six coaches as per the traffic requirement. These coaches will be fully air-conditioned and have a digital route and station display,” said Dixit.

Dixit said that the trial run of metro train on priority tracks is about to start soon and so they have ordered the coaches from Nagpur.
