MARD not to go on strike for now

PUNE: The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) at the BJ General Medical College (BJGMC) and the Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) has decided not to go on strike as of now, said sources at the MARD, SGH.

The MARD had earlier threatened to go on a strike after a junior resident doctor was allegedly slapped by a BJP corporator on Tuesday.

Dr Snehal Khandagale, the 26-year-old junior resident doctor, filed an FIR at the Bund Garden police station against the accused BJP corporator Arti Kondhare from Khadakmal Aali-Mahatma Phule Peth Ward.

Speaking to Sakal Times, sourced from MARD said that resident doctors currently have their semester examinations. So, they have not yet decided if they will protest against this attack. Another doctor added that appropriate action against the culprit should be taken without any delay by the law enforcement authorities.
