Man shoots by wife’s kin for inter-caste marriage
The injured, Tushar Prakash Pisal of Rajegaon, Bhor taluka, lodged an FIR with Hinjawadi police station under Pimpri-Chinchwad police against four persons.
PUNE: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old youth was shot at five times by his wife’s uncle who was unhappy with the couple’s inter-caste marriage.
Three persons including two brothers of his wife have been arrested, while the man who fired is absconding.
The injured, Tushar Prakash Pisal of Rajegaon, Bhor taluka, lodged an FIR with Hinjawadi police station under Pimpri-Chinchwad police against four persons. He is currently admitted in Sahyadri Hospital.
Acting on a tip-off received by Head Constable Sunil Pawar, a team led by Police Inspector Anjum Bagwan nabbed Akash Lahu Tawre (22), Sagar Lahu Tawre (24) and Sagar Ramchandra Palwe (21), all residents of Rajegaon. They were caught around 3 pm on Thursday near Sambhaji Garden on JM Road.
According to the FIR, Pisal and Tawre’s sister had love marriage last year, which upset her family members as the couple belonged to different castes. Her family members threatened Pisal. On Wednesday, Pisal was riding triple seat on a bike while returning from a wedding ceremony. The arrested accused persons and girl’s uncle Raju Tawre came from behind on bikes and intercepted Pisal near the petrol pump (closed) on Bhugaon road near Chandani Chowk. Raju fired five rounds at Pisal. The accused persons fled, while cops reached there and rushed Pisal to hospital.
Later, based on a complaint from Pisal, an FIR was registered against accused persons with Hinjawadi police station. Additional CP (Crime) Pradip Deshpande, DCP (Crime Branch) Shirish Sardeshpande, ACP Bhanupratap Barge supervised the investigation team which included PSI Vijay Zanzad and policemen Shankar Sampate, Vishal Shirke, Shankar Patil, Ramesh Chaudhar and Nilesh Shivtare.
