Man loses Rs 1.05L to fake callers in city

A man was cheated to the tune of Rs 1.05 lakh by four unidentified persons who asked for an advance payment from him in order to help him getting his father’s provident fund (PF) amount. 

Pune: A man was cheated to the tune of Rs 1.05 lakh by four unidentified persons who asked for an advance payment from him in order to help him getting his father’s provident fund (PF) amount. 

The victim who is a resident of Erandwane had approached the Alankar police station and lodged a complaint against four unidentified persons. As per the complaint filed by the victim, the incident occurred between December 28, 2018, and January 11, 2019. 

The victim told the police that he received a phone call from a person who claimed to be calling from the PF office and informed the victim that there is a balance of Rs 3.1 lakh in his father’s PF account. The fraudsters then told the victim that they will assist him in claiming the money. The fraudsters then asked the victim to submit all necessary documents along with Rs 1.05 lakh. The victim realised that he has been scammed after he failed to get the money and the details provided by the fraudsters turned out to be fake. Police Sub-Inspector S Gore is investigating the case.
