Man cheated of Rs 65L

The victim, Jayant Dhale, works for a reputed company and was searching for dating services on the internet when he came across a mobile number for availing dating services. 

PUNE: A 40-year-old man who while trying to avail services of a dating website was cheated of Rs 65 lakh by unidentified fraudsters. 

The victim, Jayant Dhale, works for a reputed company and was searching for dating services on the internet when he came across a mobile number for availing dating services. 

The victim then contacted the number and was asked to pay a registration fee of Rs 1,200 to avail of the services. 

The victim did as instructed and was asked again by the fraudsters to pay for the services. 

In all, the victim paid Rs 65 lakh but failed to get any service. 

Police officials of Cyber Crime Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate said that the victim was asked by the fraudsters to pay money for profile closure, commission holding charges, account verification charges, registration cancellation charges and other reasons. 

Police Inspector Sudhakar Kate is investigating the case.
