PUNE: A massive fire broke out at a firm involved in manufacturing vehicle lighting systems on Tuesday in Maan village of Hinjawadi.
There are no major casualties reported in the incident, however, fire fighting department officials said that one person had suffered injuries.
According to the fire fighting department, the incident took place at Varroc Lighting Systems Private Limited at around 4 am.
Officials said that following the fire call, fire tenders from MIDC, PMRDA, Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad fire fighting department were pressed into service.
Officials also said that the company manufactures headlights and tail lights for the automobile industry and there was a large amount of raw material including plastic, rubber, thinner, paint, silicone fluids and other chemicals present inside which made the fire fighting operation a bit difficult.
It took about 10 hours for the firefighters, headed by Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode, to douse the fire. In total, 12 fire tenders and 20 water tankers were used to bring the fire under control.
The incident site is close to hills, IT park and residential buildings in Hinjawadi.
