PUNE: The Bharat Bandh called by some organisations on Wednesday under aegis of Bahujan Kranti Morcha against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC), got lukewarm response in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Barring a few areas, life remained as usual in the city. Meanwhile, Pune city police detained 310 protesters for defying prohibitory orders in areas such as Swargate (Sarasbaug), Camp (Golibar Maidan), Kothrud, Wanawadi, Chandan Nagar and Yerwada.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ravindra Shisve said there were no untoward incidents.
According to the detainees, they were taken into custody by the police while distributing roses and requesting shop-keepers in Sarasbaug area to participate in the bandh.
Sachin Bansode, Pune Convener for Bharat Mukti Morcha, claimed there was a good response from people and protesters were detained at about 20 places.
