Londhe to head PCMC Standing Committe

PIMPRI: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Santosh Londhe on Friday was elected unopposed as the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee chief. The post fell vacant after ruling party’s Vilas Madigeri resigned.

Londhe will be BJP’s third Standing Committee chief since the party came to power with a majority in the civic body in February 2017.

Pune Municipal Corporation’s Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal was the election officer. Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Pankaj Bhalekar who had also filed his nomination, withdrew from the race before the voting.

Londhe is a corporator from the Bhosari Assembly segment in Pimpri Chinchwad.

The Standing Committee has 10 BJP members, four NCP members, one Maharashtra Navnirman Sena member and one independent. BJP city president and Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge congratulated Londhe on his election.
