LokSabha 2019: Parties will now shift focus to Maval, Shirur

PIMPRI: After the conclusion of voting in Pune and Baramati Lok Sabha seats on Tuesday, main political parties have planned to shift their focus to Maval and Shirur constituencies in the district. 

Senior leaders, including BJP President Amit Shah, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, 

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena leaders Uddhav and Aditya Thackeray are scheduled to address poll rallies in Pimpri-Chinchwad and nearby areas. 

Voting in Maval and Shirur constituencies will be held on Monday, April 29, while campaigning will conclude on Saturday, April 27. Maval is a prestigious seat both for the NCP-Congress front and the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. Shiv Sena’s sitting MP Shrirang Barne is pitted against NCP’s Parth Pawar, son of former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. 

In Shirur, NCP’s Dr Amol Kolhe is contesting against Shiv Sena’s three-term MP Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil. NCP leaders from the district are expected to concentrate in Maval and Shirur during the next one week. BJP President Amit Shah will address a rally in Raigad district on Wednesday, April 24.

Baramati MP Supriya Sule will address rallies in Sangvi and Wakad here on Wednesday, April 24 while Congress leader Harshavardhan Patil will campaign for Pawar at Sangvi on the same day. 

Former chief ministers Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan are slated to campaign in the city. Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray will address a poll rally in Chinchwad on Thursday, April 25 while Aditya Thackeray will campaign in Pimpri on April 24. MNS leader Raj Thackeray will address a rally in Panvel on Thursday, April 25. The dates for the poll campaign of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi leader Prakash Ambedkar are not yet announced.
