LokSabha 2019: BJP city unit plans meetings, rallies for Bapat in campaign’s 2nd phase

Pune: After a door-to-door campaign, Pune city  unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  will now organise public meetings and rallies of senior leaders in the second phase of the election campaign.

BJP’s City Unit President Yogesh Gogawale on Sunday, also stated that the party members have begun to prep themselves up for the polling days in full fervour.

On April 17, a manifesto will be released comprising assurances of work that the party aims to carry out in the city in the next five years.

The election campaign in the city began soon after Girish Bapat was announced as the Pune candidate for BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. In the first phase of campaigning, the party activists personally interacted with the citizens.

In the second phase, there have already been two public rallies addressed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Chandannagar and Nana Peth. The party has planned to organise around 200 corner meetings in several areas. However, these have not yet been held due to pending permission procedure.

An LED Prachar Rath has been going around the city. Party members are also performing street plays to spread the word about the work of the Central Government in the last five years.

Senior party leaders like Nitin Gadkari, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Pankaja Munde will also be participating in public meetings in Pune.

To ensure a good voter turnout on the polling day which is around a week away, the party will also appoint polling agents. Arrangements will be made to motivate the voters to come out and vote.

In the last two days, pamphlets with information about the BJP candidates are being circulated among the citizens.

“BJP has carried out its campaign in almost all the areas in the city. The next eight days will see public as well as corner meetings across Pune,” Gogawale stated.
