LokSabha 2019: 44.70 lakh voters to exercise franchise in Maval and Shirur Lok Sabha polls

Pune: “In all, 44.70 lakh voters will cast their vote in the Maval and Shirur parliamentary constituencies on Monday. Of these, 1.25 lakh are new voters,” said District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, on Saturday.

“There are 260 zonal officers in Maval and 218 in Shirur. They have been trained to handle the VVPATs and EVMs carefully as they have an important role in election,” added Ram.

As per data provided by the District Collector, in the Maval Parliamentary constituency, 12,659 polling staffers have been deployed whereas in Shirur, 12,685 have been deployed. The total number of polling booths in Maval is 2,504 while in Shirur, there are 2,296. There are six each Sakhi booths handled by female staffers in each of the constituencies.

According to a police report, during the model code of conduct, 33,229 litres of alcohol worth Rs 32.57 lakh was seized in Maval. In Shirur, 25,803 litres worth Rs 50.93 lakh was seized. Cash valued at Rs 11.79 lakh was seized in Maval whereas, in Shirur, it amounted to Rs 24.74 lakh.
