Light Showers In City Today, Predicts IMD

Pune: The city saw a light drizzle during daytime on the first day of Diwali on Friday. However, some parts of the city reported rainfall during the evening. As per predictions made by India Meteorological Department (IMD), cloudy sky is expected on Saturday and very light rain is very likely in Pune.

The IMD also predicted that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning is very likely at isolated places in Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. 

Weather in Arabian Sea
Though the low pressure area over Arabian Sea has intensified into Cyclone Kyarr, weather experts note that the impact of the cyclone will not be seen in Maharashtra after October 26. As per the IMD, Cyclone Kyarr, is very likely to move west-northwards towards Oman coast in the coming few days and further intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm.

The Low Pressure Area over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas of south Odisha and westcentral Bay of Bengal has become less marked, said IMD in an official statement.

Under the influence of the above systems, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall are very likely over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya till the evening of Saturday.
