Land for Shivajinagar ST stand approved

PUNE: In a move that will help the MahaMetro to accelerate work of Shivajinagar underground metro station, the State government on Wednesday approved two hectares land of Dairy Development Department to be handed over to MahaMetro for a three-year period on lease. The land was needed for the temporary shifting of the Shivajinagar bus stand during construction of the underground metro station at Shivajinagar.

A notification by the government stated that the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) had asked for four hectares of land from the government at the same place for the Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar metro project. The MahaMetro too had demanded two hectares of land on a temporary basis and the government rejected the PMRDA’s request.

The notification stated that MahaMetro will be taking care of the land for a three-year period and the rent for the same will be decided by the Public Works Department. An MoU regarding the same will be signed between the Dairy Development Department and the MahaMetro officials.

Similarly, the MahaMetro cann  ot sublet the piece of land to the other party and if MahaMetro has planned any construction on the land, then they will have to take a prior No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the same. MahaMetro is also directed to execute their work in the said time period so that no extension for the lease of land is required in future. If MahaMetro fails to abide by the rules, then the Dairy Development Department can take back the said piece of land.

The MahaMetro has planned a multimodal hub at Shivajinagar ST stand, which will help connect metro, State Transport bus, and Pune local trains. While the work of underground metro will be in progress, the ST stand will be shifted temporarily at the land of Dairy Development Department on Pune-Mumbai Highway.
