Land Bank Will Help In Development Of Jammu and Kashmir Doda District

PUNE: Doda District Collector Sagar Doifode who was in the city on Monday, while informally chatting with the media said, “Several investors from Maharashtra as well as from other parts of the country are keen on investing in Jammu and Kashmir.” He further said that this has become possible only after the abrogation of article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.

“However, to attract the investors, we need successful implementation of land bank,” added Doifode. Land banking is a practice of aggregating parcels of land for future sale or development.
According to Doifode, the investors are keen to invest in education, agriculture and service sector, however, for that, proper land segregation has to be done, which will take at least five months.
There are several other opportunities available in Doda district which has received approval for five new colleges to be set up in the near future.

“Agriculture is the basic occupation of the people in Doda and we have decided to provide training to the people for increasing yield and production in the agriculture sector. Likewise, the district administration will help in improving the service industry too. The local produce will be exported to other states sans barrier,” added Doifode.

When asked about the law and order situation in the district, Doifode said that maintaining peace was the main priority and a majority of the people have welcomed the decision.

“Peace was maintained in Doda district and with the support from the Central government, the district administration has been committed to developing adventure tourism and we aim to develop more trekking locations,” he said.

He also mentioned that the jobless youngsters who were involved in various anti-social activities now looking forward to better jobs and educational opportunities. “We have started various programmes for the welfare of these youngsters. They will also be provided with free training to prepare for the state civil service exams and central exams like Union Public Service Commission,” he added.
