PUNE: Lady Zubeida Quraishi English Primary and High School, Ramtekdi conducted a Science, Art and Craft Exhibition on Monday, where more than 50 students from Std I to X participated. The theme of the exhibition was ‘Say no to plastic and save environment’.

The chief guest of the event was Chetan Pansare, Founder Director of Strokes, Sinhagad Road and Snehal Kulkarni. Students from Std I to IV made projects related to the environment. Models which showed how buildings are made by axing trees and how manure can be made by burying dry leaves, besides others were made by students.

Similarly, students from Std V to X made various working models on density, adulteration, Tesla coil and properties of graphite. Along with it, projects on volcanoes, railways and puzzles on numbers were also made. The students also performed a skit titled ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ based on Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule.

Mehjabeen Shaikh, Principal, Lady Zubeida Quraishi English Primary and High School, said, “From a young age, we are making students aware of the side effects of plastic and teaching them to save the environment. If they gain knowledge about these things and if they start using paper bags instead of plastic bags, it can make a huge difference in the future.”

Along with the projects, students of the school also showcased craft work like flowers, tortoise, hanging lamps, photo frames and animal faces, all made from recycled materials like plastic bottles, paper plates and ice cream sticks.

Pansare said the exhibition was very impressive. “The students tried to showcase each and every tradition, culture and environment of India very accurately. The students made models from waste, which impressed me,” he added.
