Kharadi residents hit by power outage

PUNE: For more than 24 hours this weekend, housing societies in Kharadi faced electricity outage -- from Saturday morning to Sunday morning. 

A resident of Ganga Arcadia housing society in Kharadi, Kiran Palase, said, “From Friday morning in Bypass Road, Kharadi, the residents were facing interrupted electricity supply for the whole day. On Saturday morning at 9 am, there was electricity failure which resumed on Sunday morning at 11 am.”

A resident of Pavilion society in Kharadi, Prabha Karpe said power interruption is being faced by them since last 15 days. “I run a beauty parlour, but had to keep my shop closed since there was no electricity all day from Saturday to Sunday.”

Daily activities are getting affected due to power failure, a resident of the affected society of Kharadi said. “Residents can sustain power failure for a few hours but outage for 24 hours is unacceptable,” he said, adding this is troubling residents of more than 42 posh societies on Bypass Road at Kharadi.

A senior MSEDCL official claimed that residents are exaggerating and that there was no such outage for 24 hours.

A group a residents had approached the MSEDCL office at Kharadi.

“The officials told us that there is less manpower so it will take time for the electricity to be restored,” Palase said.

WORK DONE, CLAIMS MSEDCL
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), Pune Zone, Chief Engineer Sachin Talewar said that there were faults in the cable, but it has been resolved now. Talewar added, “There were continuous electricity interruptions due to problems in the cable. Now, the power supply has resumed and all the repairing work has also been completed.”
