Jagdish Mulik is new city president of BJP

PUNE: Former MLA Jagdish Mulik was appointed on Wednesday as the new city president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). State BJP President Chandrakant Patil announced the same in a rally, ‘Sangathan Parv’ organised at Mhatre bridge in Pune. Patil handed over the appointment letter to Mulik in the rally.

After city president Madhuri Misal was elected from Parvati Constituency as an MLA, the State leadership was thinking of appointing a new city president. Finally, the responsibility was given to Mulik who lost the State Assembly election recently.

Corporator Ganesh Bidkar, former senior corporator Ujjwal Keskar, former MLA Yogesh Tilekar and former leader of the house of PMC Shrinath Bhimale were in the race for the city president’s post. However, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and State BJP President Chandrakant Patil gave responsibility to Mulik.

While making the announcement, Patil said, “Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Leader of the House Dhiraj Ghate, outgoing Pune City Unit President Madhuri Misal and other city-based party leaders will work unitedly for development of the city and the party.” 

Jagdish Mulik was elected MLA from Vadgaonsheri Assembly Constituency in 2014. However, he lost the 2019 State Assembly election.  He was a former general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, deputy president of state Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and general secretary of Pune BJP city unit.
