PUNE: Employees of an Information Technology (IT) company located in the IT hub of Magarpatta City, Hadapsar, were let off early on Wednesday to carry out sanitation activity after the company reported that one of their employees showed symptoms of COVID-19. 

The employee had a history of foreign visit and hence, the company decided to carry out the sanitation activity.

A similar exercise was carried out in another IT company located in Hinjawadi. 

When contacted, Satish Magar, Chairman and Managing Director of Magarpatta City township said that the sanitation activity was carried out in Tower 7 and they took the help of doctors from Noble Hospital to spread awareness about COVID-19. 

“We are following guidelines from the State government and the WHO. We also carried out an awareness drive in Magarpatta with facility managers of all towers. We are also distributing pamphlets and posters to be posted at prominent locations in Magarpatta City,” Magar added. 

Five persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in the city, on Wednesday, are under observation and are placed in isolation. 

One of the IT major companies, Infosys in their statement stated , “Infosys has well-defined disaster recovery and business continuity plans at various levels. We also have a comprehensive pandemics response plan which is based on WHO and local government recommendations. In the light of the rapid spread of coronavirus, we are constantly monitoring the situation, following applicable government directives and ensuring regular communication with our employees across the world. We have put in place several measures; including increased precautions at our facilities, travel advisories, remote working, and a dedicated helpdesk, to ensure employee safety and business continuity.”
