International Conference held on science and technology

PUNE: International Conference on ‘Ideas, Innovation and Impact in Science and Technology’ organised by the Mechanical Engineering Department of SKN College of Engineering, Vadgaon, was recently held here. The conference was inaugurated by Dr Lasse Rosendahl, Manager, Biomass Research Programme and Professor, Department of Energy Technology Alborg University, Denmark.

The conference was organised in collaboration with the Materials Engineering Department, Defense Institute of Advance Technology (DIAT) Pune, SAE India Western Section Pune, Indian Society for Technical Education and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). It brought experts and delegates from various parts of the country and abroad to take stock of the current knowledge, update and share information and best practices and build consensus on desirable action to progress ahead.

The conference was held at Vadgaon campus of Sinhgad Institutes. In his keynote address, Dr Rosendahl spoke on the ‘Advances in Sub and Supercritical HTL for Urban Waste Utilisation’, and elaborated that biofuels is the fuel of the future. 

Some of the other dignitaries present were Dr Balasubramanian K, Dean of Applied Sciences, Head of Department of Materials Engineering, DIAT Pune and Dean Students Affair, Dr SS Pardeshi, Chairman, Board of Studies (Mechanical and Automobile), SPPU and Professor at CoEP, Sandip Nibandhe, Deputy Director, ARAI Chakan, Dr AG Thakur, Member of Board of Studies, Vice Principal and HoD at Sanjeevani College, Kopargaon, Dr VM Domkundwar, Professor Emeritus of COEP. These dignitaries also addressed the audience. 

The experts in the various fields of engineering were invited as a session chair to evaluate the papers and select the best paper for awards. The best paper award was given for each stream of engineering.
