Inquiry in progress in NDA cadet suicide

Pune: In the wake of the alleged suicide of fifth term Naval cadet Alekh Jaiswal, the National Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a statement regarding the ongoing progress of the inquiry into his death.

Jaiswal’s father has alleged foul play in his son’s death. However, NDA has said in its statement that an order has been issued by NDA authorities for an internal inquiry to ensure an impartial investigation into the case. It further said that the NDA is extending full support to police authorities in the said investigation.

According to the statement, cadet Alekh Jaiswal allegedly committed suicide and he was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his cabin on July 23. Immediately after the incident, the local police was informed and an FIR was lodged.

All personal belongings of the deceased cadet were seized and handed over to police officials. The CCTV footage of the gallery next to cadet’s cabin and other relevant details were shared with the police. The incident prima facie appears to be a suicide according to the police. However, details will be known after a thorough investigation.

The police has sent the mobile, service laptop and an SD card found in the cabin of the deceased cadet for chemical analysis. Details pertaining to the circumstances leading to the death of the cadet, will be known after investigations are completed.
