Homoeopath booked for raping minor girl

Pune: A homoeopathy doctor has been booked by Sahakarnagar police for allegedly raping a minor girl after she was incapacitated with intoxicating drugs. The girl was also threatened by the doctor with a pistol and dire consequences in case she revealed about the incident to her parents or anyone else.

The First Information Report (FIR) regarding the rape was lodged with Sahakarnagar police station on Thursday. According to the complaint, the minor girl was raped during a visit to the doctor’s clinic at Sambhaji Nagar in September 2017. She went there for treatment as she was ill.

According to the information provided by Sahakar Nagar police station, after examining the girl on the day of the incident, the accused initially injected her and then gave her a tablet to consume, which incapacitated her.

Dr Shah then raped her in the incapacitated state. When the victim regained consciousness and realised that she was raped, the doctor threatened her with a pistol. He threatened to kill her and her family in case she told anybody about the incident.

Dipak Nikam, Police Inspector, Sahakar Nagar police station, said, “Dr Shah is the family doctor of the girl and is accused of raping her. We have booked him under relevant sections of IPC. He is presently admitted in Sasoon hospital, and we will take him in custody once he is released from there.”

“There are many other factors in this case, which need to be investigated, and then only we can come to any conclusion,” added Nikam. Police has booked the accused under section 376 (rape) of IPC as well as Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
