HEART and HIRWA start ‘Digital Andolan’ in city

PUNE: The Hinjawadi Employees and Residents Trust (HEART) and Hinjawadi IT Park Residents Welfare Association (HIRWA) have started the phase 2 of ‘Digital Andolan,’ which will continue till December 31. This digital campaign has been started by the residents on the Twitter handle of HEART to bring the attention of the administration to the issues faced by residents of that area.

“This is the second phase of Digital Andolan, which we have started from Dussehra and this campaign will continue till December 31. Under this initiative, there are two campaigns, which is ‘Twitter Tuesday’ as we are posting from 10 am to 10 pm about the issues related to Hinjawadi area on the HEART Twitter handle and also tagging the stakeholders such as PMRDA, MIDC and PCMC, police so that it gets their attention. The second campaign is about the ‘Face2Face Fridays’ in which the volunteers are meeting the people working in the IT park and also the residents of the area to create awareness about the traffic and also asking them to join this movement,” said Dnyanendra Hulsure, President of HEART.

Under this campaign, until now, they have tweeted about the traffic problems and lack of proper roads in Hinjewadi. “The social media is extremely powerful and it brings the attention of the public and also puts pressure on administration. Last year when we did the first phase of ‘Digital Andolan’, it got translated into good results as we had multiple meetings with the stakeholders and things like rotary traffic got implemented. Therefore, we are hopeful that this phase will also become successful,” Hulsure added.

Around 50 volunteers of these associations are involved in both the campaigns of ‘Twitter Tuesday’ and ‘Face2Face Friday’. “Traffic and roads are big issues. We are hoping that with this phase, road condition of the area will be improved and also long pending alternate route to Hinjawadi via Mhalunge should be completed,” added Hulsure.
