HCJMRI will hold free health check-ups for PMPML staff

Pune: On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Hirabai Cowasji Jehangir Medical Research Institute (HCJMRI) has organised a free health check-up camp for PMPML employees at Swargate and Katraj Bus Depot on November 14.

The camp will be conducted from 10 am onwards along with a team of experienced doctors. Creating awareness about diabetes and guiding people to live a healthy lifestyle are the main objectives of the camp.

Speaking about the initiative, Deputy Director of HCJMRI Dr Anuradha Khadilkar said that the institute runs a multidisciplinary charity clinic for Type 1 Diabetes, which exclusively caters to underprivileged children.

“A free clinic for children with diabetes is conducted at the Jehangir hospital on second and fourth Saturdays and on first and third Saturdays in Jehangir Specialty Hospital in Kothrud from 9 am to 1 pm. We provide free consultations, insulin, glucometers, strips, syringes, diabetes education, psychological support, and nutrition education to children with diabetes. Almost 350 children from all over Maharashtra are the beneficiaries of the project,” said Khadilkar.

She further added that every year on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the institute organises an awareness campaign and health camps in the city.
