Pune: Around 16,726 new voters enrolled their names during the voters registration drive being undertaken by the district administration since July 1. As a part of a special drive undertaken on Saturday, at least 5,000 voters took form no.6 in order to register their names in the voting list. The district administration implemented voter registration drive at 122 colleges and educations institutes on Saturday.

Earlier, District Collector Saurabh Rao had appealed to voters in the age group of 18 to 21 to register their names in the voters' list.

Pune: Around 16,726 new voters enrolled their names during the voters registration drive being undertaken by the district administration since July 1. As a part of a special drive undertaken on Saturday, at least 5,000 voters took form no.6 in order to register their names in the voting list. The district administration implemented voter registration drive at 122 colleges and educations institutes on Saturday.

Earlier, District Collector Saurabh Rao had appealed to voters in the age group of 18 to 21 to register their names in the voters' list.

Rao had appealed to duly fill up form no. 6 and submit the same at the office of the assistant returning officer or returning officer till July 31. Rao had appealed to those not studying at any educational institute also to come forward to register their names in the voters' list. The drive is being undertaken at all 21 Assembly constituencies till July 31 in Pune district.

Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a special drive to enrol left out voters, with a special focus on first-time voters from July 1, 2017, so as to move in the direction of commission's motto that 'no voter to be left behind'.

Pune District has around 70 lakh voters, the administration has also taken up omission and deletion of duplicate names and names of the deceased.
