Godman, son booked for sexual abuse

PUNE: A 68-year-old self-proclaimed godman and his son have been booked by Pune city police for allegedly sexually abusing women on the pretext of removing a “black spell” on their lives and solving their family problems. 

Based on a complaint from a woman, an FIR was registered with Samarth police station against Bhagwat alias Nandkumar Vasant Bhagwat and his son Abhijit (35), both residents of Rasta Peth. 

According to the police, the incident took place from 2005 till date. After getting complaints from many women about their sexual exploitation and threat of circulating videos of the act, the women raided the house of the accused persons and thrashed them. Later, the accused were handed over to the police. 

The accused persons were booked for offences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
