GoAir Pune-Delhi flight has emergency landing after bird hit

PUNE: As many as 172 air passengers of Delhi-bound GoAir have safely landed at Pune airport after a bird hit was reported in mid-air on Saturday morning.

As per information shared by a source from the Pune airport, Flight Number G8 174 departed from Pune at the airport at 10.50 am and after 20 minutes of taking off, the flight was forced to have an emergency landing. While mid-air, the aircraft was hit by a bird. However, the flight was landed safely. Around 174 passengers had boarded the flight.

In a press statement, a GoAir spokesperson said that the flight turned back to Pune following a bird hit.

“GoAir Flight G8 174 from Pune to Delhi did an air turn back to Pune following a bird-hit. After the turn back, the aircraft landed safely at Pune airport. The aircraft is being inspected and rectified by GoAir engineering team. Alternate flight arrangements are being made to accommodate the passengers to their destination. GoAir regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers,” said the GoAir spokesperson in the statement.

“The flight departed on time, however, after 20 minutes there was information about emergency landing of the aircraft. The same Flight G8 174 was landed safely. All the passengers were safe. As the day was Saturday, the runway was closed from 11 am to 5 pm due to maintenance work. The passengers were given an option to take another flight or return back full amount after the cancellation of the ticket. Some choose the optional flight and had waited till 5 pm and some got return amount back,” said a special source from the Pune airport.

A passenger said on the condition of anonymity, “The flight departed on time. There was an emergency announcement by cabin crew that flight has got some technical issues and we are returning to Pune airport. We deboarded from the aircraft and were asked to wait for some time. However, after some time, the airline staffer asked us to either get a refund or wait for another flight after 5 pm.”

“Most of the passengers choose accommodation on other flights and some got the return back their amount,” said another passenger.
