Pune: Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) Kolkata, both institutes under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India, have decided to conduct a Joint Entrance Test (JET) in 2018 for admission to FTII, Pune and SRFTI, Kolkata in the new academic year.
JET will be held on February 18, 2018 in 26 centres.
FTII is organising this year’s JET, with a committee comprising representatives of both institutes overseeing the examination process.
All India Management Association (AIMA) has been contracted for total management of exam-related logistics. AIMA has experience of conducting entrance exams for National Institute of Design (NID) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
The entrance test will be a combination of objective type questions and subjective answers. Candidates would be marking multiple choice questions (MCQ) on OMR sheets.
The scorecard of JET in terms of marks secured and percentile will be uploaded to JET portal and websites of both institutes.
“The decision to hold a common test follows year-long talks between both institutes. JET will be conducted only up to the level of written examination. Orientation, auditions (applicable to acting candidates) and interviews will be conducted separately by FTII and SRFTI. A common test is a boon for candidates who earlier had to apply separately to each institute and pay entrance fees separately. Now a candidate has to register just once to be eligible for taking up courses in both institutes,” said Bhupendra Kainthola, Director FTII Pune while announcing the admissions for 2018.
