Four medical shops in the city face action by FDA

Two medical stores were booked for overpricing of masks and two were sealed for selling spurious sanitisers. In Pune division, 165 medical stores have been checked by the FDA. 

PUNE: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a show-cause notice to four city-based medical shops/stores on overpricing of masks and spurious sanitisers. Two medical stores were booked for overpricing of masks and two were sealed for selling spurious sanitisers. In Pune division, 165 medical stores have been checked by the FDA. 

Speaking to Sakal Times, Joint Commissioner of FDA (Drugs) SB Patil said, “Two medical shops from Kothrud and one each from Gokhale Nagar and Mahalunge were buying and selling spurious sanitisers. They did not possess any bill for the same. Citizens helped us with photos and location of these stores,” Patil said. 

He added that chemists in Mahalunge and Gokhale Nagar were also overpricing the masks.
