Foundation honours 6 SGH attendants for their service

Six women attendants from Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) were felicitated with ‘Utkrushta Seva Sanman Puraskar’ for their selfless service at BJ Medical College, Pune, recently.

Pune: Six women attendants from Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) were felicitated with ‘Utkrushta Seva Sanman Puraskar’ for their selfless service at BJ Medical College, Pune, recently.

Amanora Yess Foundation felicitated Shehnaj Shaikh, Shanta Kadam, Ujwala Kambale, Sushila Sakat, Geeta Wadar and Madhura Shitole, who have been associated with SGH since past many years. These attendants were selected based on their contribution and work at the hospital and were presented with Rs 11,000, a saree and a trophy.

Dignitaries including Amanora Park Town and City Corporation Managing Director Aniruddha Deshpande, BJ Medical College Dean Dr Ajay Chandanwale,  Deputy Dean Dr Murlidhar Tambe and Matron Rajshree Korke were present at the event.

Three underprivileged girl students, who are studying nursing in the college, were also felicitated.  Deekshita Jichkar of second year, Sandhya Gayal of third year and Priyanka Shirse of fourth year were presented with Rs 15,000 scholarship by the foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Aniruddha Deshpande said that the nurses and attendants play a very significant role, like doctors, while caring for patients. “My mother got enrolled for a nursing course at BJ Medical college in 1956-57 and later worked in the same profession for over 30 years. The attendants should get all the respect they deserve,” said Deshpande.
