FOGSI, Emcure carries out more than 16K Hb test nationwide
PUNE: Emcure Pharma along with Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) carried out a mass awareness campaign by organising anemia diagnosis camps at 35 different locations across India on a single day. The camps began at 10 am and were carried out till 4 pm. In this time period, more than 16,000 people undertook the Hb test at national level while Pune recorded 2,500 plus tests. The personals from Limca Record have taken a cognisance of this huge awareness effort.
In Pune, Anaemia Free Booths were installed at ‘Anaemia Battling Hospitals’ Bharti Vidhyapeeth (Katraj), DY Patil (Pimpri), Yashwantrao Chawhan Hospital (Pimpri), Navale Hospital (Narhe) and Kamla Nehru Hospital (Kasba Peth). In Maharashtra, tests were undertaken simultaneously in Pune, Mumbai, Nanded, Nagpur, Miraj, Solapur and Aurangabad. Each centre screened more than 300 subjects for Hb levels by finger prick Hb estimation method.
“If you are experiencing fatigue and dullness, then it is not a matter to be ignored. One must undertake proper tests to ascertain that your weakness is not anemia,” cautioned Jitendra Bhawalkar, Dean-D Y Patil Hospital. “Anaemia is one of the biggest healthcare concerns, which India is currently fighting. The high prevalence of anaemia is also responsible for poor health outcome of pregnancy and High Infant Mortality rate. informed Dr Rishma Pai.
