Flights from Pune delayed due to lower visibility in Delhi-NCR

PUNE: Due to heavy fog in Delhi on Wednesday, around 5 to 7 flights were delayed from Pune as the incoming flight did not arrive on time and departed after almost 2 hours’ delay.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was wrapped in thick fog since early morning. The visibility was reduced to 50 metres. Vistara Airlines issued an alert saying flights to and from Delhi are likely to be affected due to dense fog in Delhi. 

IndiGo issued an alert saying that operations were affected due to reduced visibility in Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Delhi, Lucknow and Patna. At the same time, 30 flights from Delhi were delayed due to reduced visibility. Currently, the runway visibility of Delhi Airport is 150 metres.

Further delays are expected due to low visibility in Delhi, NCR due to dense fog.

On Wednesday, more than 7 flights from Pune airport were delayed. The airlines sent messages to fliers to check their updated flight status before leaving for the airport. 

A source from the Pune airport said, “The incoming flights were delayed, thus delaying departing time of the aircraft. On Wednesday, flights did not arrive on time. The Pune-Delhi flight was delayed by more than two-and-half hours.”

From 6 am to 9 am three flights of Indigo, SpiceJet and Air India for Delhi were delayed. Between 9 am and 12 pm some flights were delayed.
