Fliers irked as GoAir flight to Nagpur delayed by 7 hrs

Pune: More than 160 passengers were stranded at Pune Airport as the GoAir flight Pune to Nagpur got delayed for more than seven hours on Sunday.

The fliers claimed they were not informed by the airline about the delay in time with confusion about the departure throughout the day, and were also not served food and beverages.

GoAir flight G8 283 was scheduled to arrive at 7.10 am from Bengaluru and depart at 7.40 am from Pune. However, the flight arrived at 2.40 pm, departed at 3.30 pm and arrived Nagpur
airport at 5 pm.

Angry passengers at the airport claimed that the airline finally served them water at 12.46 pm for the first time.

Being an early morning flight, passengers started arriving at the Pune airport at 6.30 am but till 9.30 am, GoAir authorities did not inform them the reason for the delay.

Two passengers, it is learnt, had to attend a funeral at Nagpur and demanded to be accommodated in another flight. Another passenger missed his crucial examination in Nagpur.

Abhijit Deshmukh, an IT professional and resident of Warje, who arrived at Pune airport with his wife and 15-month-old daughter, told Sakal Times on phone, “At the airport, we were informed that the flight is delayed by only 20 minutes. But later, we saw on the display board that the flight is delayed by two hours. That’s when we decided to go to our relative’s home in Balewadi to have breakfast. I later called to check later, and was told the delay is of four hours. Many passengers were asking about the reason of delay, but we were told that the flight will arrive soon. We have waited for more than 7 hours.”

Dr Sharad Thombare from Nagpur, who was in Pune for a medical check-up, told Sakal Times, “Passengers were not given any exact time of arrival of flight. At 1 pm passengers demanded lunch. There was no responsible approach from the GoAir authorities and there is no sufficient staff to handle a flight or crowd of around 180 passengers of the flight.”

GoAir's response
A spokesperson from GoAir said, “The flight was delayed due to bad weather at Bengaluru coupled with technical reasons and notice to airman (Notam) in Pune. All passengers were provided snacks and lunch and alternative travel options and full refund. GoAir sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers.”
