Firm CEO booked for forging PMO letter

PUNE: After 10 months of complaints from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the CBI registered an FIR against a Tamil Nadu-based company for using a forged PMO letterhead sent by fax to the DRDO lab in Pune. The said letter was about testing bio-fuel developed by a company, AN Biofuel and provide its report to the company.

Assistant Director PK Issar in the PMO approached the CBI in April last year with a complaint alleging forgery in the case.

The Special Crime Branch of CBI, Mumbai, registered the FIR on Wednesday against Ujagar Singh, Director (Projects) and CEO, M/s Ariya Nangai Biofuel and Power Private Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  According to the FIR, a letter dated December 15, 2017 was shown issued on PMO letterhead under the signature of Debashree Mukherjee, Joint Secretary to the Prime Minister. It is alleged in the letter to test the AN Biofuel and to provide the report to said firm Ariya Nangai Biofuel & Power Private Limited and if possible conduct field trial. The letter is shown as addressed to Director, R&DE (Engineers), DRDO Lab, Pune, by Mukharjee. A fax letter was received at DRDO office, Pune on January 5,.2018 and on October 1, 2018 with the letter from the accused with said purported PMO letter requesting testing of bio-fuel developed by said company.

However, the PMO complained that no such letter was sent and this is a clear case of a forgery and requested lodging of a complaint for initiating investigation as per law.  The accused has been booked for offences under sections 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating),  471 (using forged document as genuine), 511 (punishment attempting to commit offence) of the Indian Penal Code.  Dy SP (CBI) MS Patil is investigating the case.

ANOTHER FORGED LETTER CASE
- In this case, it is alleged that the letter was addressed to the Chief Minister on a purported PMO letterhead signed by Debashree Mukherjee, Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, on November 27, 2017.
- “It is alleged in above said purported letter (was) to favour Vilayati Ram Mittal, Navi Mumbai in connection with the development of a plot in Bandra,” the FIR said.

The agency alleged the letter said local authorities are biased and helping some developers.
