Pune: An FIR has been registered against four companies and their owners for allegedly using label of another company for selling a banned pesticide, and operating in a residential area, causing danger to the lives of people. They fraudulently sold aluminum phosphide (pesticide) to farmers.
Based on a complaint from Sahbir Singh Jaz (56), who is a Vigilance Officer with UPL company based in Gujarat, an FIR was registered against Royal Agro Organic Pvt Ltd, Karve Road, Royal Agro Manufacturing Company, Khandala (Satara district), Royal Agroside, Shirwal and Royal EDB Manufacturing company, Shindewadi, Satara, their owners and licence holders. The case has been registered with Alankar police station, Pune.
According to the police, the incident took place in the last 10 days at the Royal Agro Organic Pvt Ltd office on Karve Road.
“The accused persons had used label of QuickPhos and UPL on their packets and sold them to farmers violating the government norms. The company is lcoated in residential areas, causing threat to people’s lives. They sold aluminium phosphide which has been banned from retail sale by the government, thus cheating the farmers and the complainant’s company,” the FIR states.
The police have booked the accused persons for offences under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 486 (selling goods marked with a counterfeit property mark), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Copyright Act, Insectiside Act.
