Finish all pre-monsoon work by May 30, orders PMC chief
Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has issued an order instructing the heads of various departments to submit reports after completing pre-monsoon work before June 7.
Pune: Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has issued an order instructing the heads of various departments to submit reports after completing pre-monsoon work before June 7.
Rao held a meeting to discuss pre-monsoon work on Saturday.
City Mayor Mukta Tilak, Standing Committee Chairman Sunil Kamble, Leader of House Shrinath Bhimale, heads of road department, water supply department, sewage department, electrical department, anti-encroachment department and different ward officers were present. Pre-monsoon work includes cleaning of nalas, storm water drain and chambers, removal of dilapidated structures, removal of illegal roadside stalls and checking earthing of street polls.
Rao instructed all officials to complete all pre-monsoon work before May 30 and submit a report of completed work along with photographs. Rao said, “The road department should have to stop issuing road digging permission. All departments should submit information to the road department and the road department will submit the final report of pre-monsoon work.”
He further said, “During monsoon, due to tree felling, traffic problems arise in the city. Therefore, a coordination cell will be set up to remove trees and clear traffic problems. In monsoon, we address water logging problem.”
There are total 364 kilometres of nalas in the city. The Pune Municipal Corporation has completed 350 km of storm water drain lines.
There are 36,081 chambers and 429 culverts in the city.
The city experiences water logging, tree felling, traffic jams, dilapidated structure collapse incidents during monsoon.
