Few areas in State to receive heavy rains

PUNE: After a brief lull in the rainfall, Pune is now experiencing ‘hide and seek’ of light showers. On Tuesday, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Ganeshkhind Road, Law College Road, Deccan Gymkhana, Vishrantwadi and Viman Nagar received light showers throughout the day. Pune also recorded 3.4 mm rainfall on Tuesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rainfall is predicted on September 2. 

According to the predictions by IMD, Konkan and Goa region will continue to receive isolated heavy rainfall till August 30. On August 28, isolated places in central Maharashtra may get heavy rainfall. On August 30 and August 31, isolated rainfall is likely over Vidarbha.

According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon has been vigorous over west Madhya Pradesh and Kerala and active over east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region and coastal Karnataka. It has been subdued over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka.

The monsoon trough at the mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur, Panna, Korba, Rourkela, Balasore and thence south-eastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal as on Tuesday.

Till August 31, IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha and coastal Karnataka and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gujarat region, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Kerala and Mahe.
