Exhibition On Making Of Bihar Museum Inaugurated In City

PUNE: An exhibition titled ‘Synergies’, showcasing the making of The Bihar Museum in Patna, was inaugurated at Sancheti Healthcare Academy in Thube Park on Saturday. The exhibition will conclude on November 14.

The Bihar Museum, a project by the Bihar government, was designed by Japan-based firm Maki and Associates with a Mumbai-based firm Opolis. The exhibition also includes other projects undertaken
by Opolis.

The exhibition showcases information regarding The Bihar Museum. The screens display visuals of the museum and Opolis’ other projects.

Pune is the seventh city where they have organised the exhibition after Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Kochi. They are planning to do the same in New Delhi and Patna.

Sonal Sancheti, an architect at Opolis, Mumbai, said, “The exhibition speaks about the making of a building.” She said in the last 15 years, Opolis has mainly constructed second houses or weekend houses which people have built between Pune and Mumbai.

Rahul Gore, another architect at Opolis, spoke on the concept behind the making of the Bihar Museum.
He said, “Distinct spaces are linked together through courtyards and the structure is composed of various textures, the most striking being the weathering steel used on the façade.”

He said, “The museum houses a rich variety of treasures from the region and includes spaces that nurture the state’s history.”

Gore said, “A similar idea resonates in the exhibition as well which has been divided into panels such as design scheme, entrance area, children’s gallery, cloisters and connectors, main galleries, courtyards and landscape, along with an infographic panel that highlights the project details.”
