EPFO recovers Rs 7 cr from 2 defaulter companies

PUNE: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Pimpri-Chinchwad, has taken action against two companies for not depositing the provident fund (PF) amount of Rs 7 crore. 

A senior officer of Provident Fund Commissioner 1 Akurdi, said, “We have taken action against two companies located in Bhosari and Chakan. The company in Bhosari had shut due to ongoing losses five years ago and the owners of the company had not paid the employees’ fund of Rs 3 crore which we recovered.”

“Another company is located in Chakan which manufactured auto components. After receiving complaints from employees about their PF amount, we started scrutiny and found that the pending amount was of around Rs 4 crore which the company paid recently,” the officer said. The EPFO will take action and register FIR against those found as defaulters.
