Pune: The two-day International Conference on ‘Recent Innovation in Engineering Technology’ (ICRIET) 2019 recently concluded in the city. The conference was inaugurated by Dr Sellappan, Dean Malaysian University of Science and Technology, Malaysia.
It was organised by the Shetkari Shikshan Mandal’s Bhivarabai Sawant College of Engineering and Research, Narhe, Pune in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Nearly 200 research papers were presented at the conference by researchers from the US, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh and India.
The chief guest of the function was Director of ISRO cell, SPPU, Dr MC Uttam. Dr Ravindra Bista (Nepal), Dr Ram Kazi (Nepal), Dr Jeyaraju Jayprakash (Ethiopia), Dr Zahir Shaikh (Ethiopia), Dr RS Joshi and Rushiraj Sawant, were also present on the occasion.
In his opening address, Dr Sellappan focused on rapid development of exponential technology and appealed to the students to adopt rapidly changing technology, and in the education system in particular.
“The world is witnessing a growth of autonomous vehicles, additive manufacturing, artificial indigence, the blockchain and augmented digital reality. Indian researchers need to explore the opportunities in the right direction,” he said.
Uttam said there are ample opportunities for women engineers to work in space research and all should definitely take benefit of it.
