PUNE: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Saturday criticised the National Congress Party’s (NCP) reaction to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issue.

Patra was in the city as a part of BJP’s ‘Rashtriya Ekta Abhiyan’, under which the party is organising public rallies, meetings across the country to make people aware about the importance of the Centre’s decision to scrap Article 370.

He said, “The full-form of the ED is Enforcement Directorate and not ‘Event Development’.?

Commenting on NCP leader Ajit Pawar’s resignation as an MLA, he said, “Ajit Pawar’s resignation is his party’s internal issue. No party can afford to have two power centres. I don’t know why was NCP opposing the scrapping of Article 370.”

Drawing a parallel between a party and the country, Patra said, “There could not be two symbols and two constitutions for a party. Similarly, no country should have two constitutions. Hence, we scrapped Article 370. The Congress had registered its resistance to scrapping of Article 370 but Sharad Pawar did not give support to remove Article 370. Now, people of Maharashtra should ask why the Congress and the NCP are not supporting the removal of Article 370 in the State elections.”

Patra said, “The Abdullahs, the Muftis and the Gandhi family supported corruption in Jammu and Kashmir. The common man was not benefited due to corruption. Modi’s and Shah’s political determination ended Article 370.”  By referring to the statement of the then Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde that terrorist camps were being operated in India, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has targeted India. Patra demanded an apology from Shinde, Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on this issue.
