District Collector’s office demands disaster mgmt plan

Pune: Ahead of the monsoon, the District Collector’s Office has directed Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Public Works Department (PWD), Irrigation Department, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Zilla Parishad and others to submit a separate disaster management plan by May 31.

Ramesh Kale, Additional Collector, gave these instructions during a meeting held recently with the civic officials.

This meeting was attended by 80 officials. 

District Collector’s Office had instructed the PWD to conduct the structural audit of the bridges and irrigation department to conduct the structural audit for dams. Tehsildars are instructed to check the
condition of the rain gauge and also setting the control rooms for the next four months. PMC and PCMC have also received the instruction to take the necessary measures to prepare for monsoon. 

The health department of PMC and PCMC have been instructed to check the availability of medicines and doctors. 

The head of the department of Zilla Parishad was also instructed to take necessary actions ahead of the monsoon.
