Developer booked for duping flat purchasers

Pune: Deepak Yashwant Patil, developer and owner of Dharti Infrastructure was booked by the Pune city police on Thursday, for allegedly duping a businessman to the tune of Rs 66.85 lakh by not giving possession of flat after taking money. He has duped over 30 persons in a similar manner.

Harinder Pal Singh Anand (58) of Hadapsar filed the complaint in this regard. As per the FIR, he booked a flat on the 10th floor of Sidhant Courtyard in Baner, which was being constructed by Patil.
“He told me he has got permission for 11 floors and lured me to book the flat on the 10th floor saying he will give possession by 2014. I paid him Rs 66.85 lakh and got the registration done in 2012. However, when the project was not completed on time, I found out he had permission for only seven floors. Later, Patil sold the same flat to another person and also took a loan from a credit society on the same flat through mortgage deed agreement. Recently, I came to know that he has taken a loan of Rs 10 crore on the whole building,” the complaint stated.

The police have booked Patil for offences under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and other sections related to forgery of the Indian Penal Code.
