Deputy mayor registers plaint against PMC chief
“In 2016-17, the corporation gave pension to 31 women through cheques. However, Kumar did not allocate funds in 2017-18 corporation’s budget.” Dhende alleged.
PUNE: Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende of Republican Party of India (Athavale) has registered a complaint against Pune Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar for not using funds for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (SC & ST) with the Maharashtra State Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Commission, on Thursday.
A meeting regarding the same was held on Thursday. The Commissioner visited PMC to take a review of SC/ST related issues on Thursday.
In 2016, the PMC General Body had passed a proposal to start Mata Ramai Pension Scheme for widows and destitute under which, the beneficiary would get Rs 1,000 per month and beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi Pension scheme would get Rs 400.
“In 2016-17, the corporation gave pension to 31 women through cheques. However, Kumar did not allocate funds in 2017-18 corporation’s budget. When we came to this, we told the Standing Committee chairman about it. He made provision of Rs 1 crore in the budget. However, the administration has not implemented it yet,” Dhende alleged.
Dhende added, “Municipal Commissioner is purposefully doing it. He didn’t allocate funds for Ramai Scheme for last two years. Besides that, if the corporation fails to use Schedule Caste Welfare Funds, it is carried forward to next year’s budget. But it is not reflecting in the budget head.”
He said there is also no record of funds in chief accountant’s office.
He demanded, “We are requesting Commission to take appropriate action on the commissioner for the negligence of duty.”
As per State government order, if any official is found guilty in spending Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe welfare funds, it is considered as negligence of duty and the Commission can file atrocity case against the concerned official.
